Based on SNI 17025: 2008, calibration is an activity or process carried out by a person or group in the field of calibration. To achieve the objectives of the activity, certain people or groups can be involved or included in a training (training) according to their respective fields before being deployed to the field.
Calibration is very important. This ability will make it easier for you to know the value of the measurement you want to do. In the world of measurement production, for example, calibration is needed to determine the results of accurate and traceable data. In the end, calibration will support the quality of the product concerned, reduce production costs, and increase production. Standard tools used, treatment of calibrated devices, procedures, data collection methods, and how to calculate uncertainty from measurements are the factors that determine the final results.
One tool that is often calibrated is the torque wrench or torque wrench. This type of lock is used to tighten worn bolts. This makes torque locks often found in the mechanical world, not least in the automotive sector.
Calibration and Torque Validation
Kg.m or N.m. is a unit that is applied to the torque key. You can adjust the reading size before using the key. In addition, adjust it first to the standards listed in the manual service book. Before performing a calibration, you need to know two types of torque locks, namely keys with needle models and click models.
The torque lock with a needle model usually does not need a setting when you are going to wear it. Measurements can be seen directly on the scale. Compared to the needle model, the needle torque lock gives less accurate results. Meanwhile, the click torque key can be installed according to sock. Previously, you must ensure the standard of tightening before pulling the locking part. After that, turn the sleeve handle back and forth until you get the desired torque. Next, lock the sleeve handle again and use it to tighten the nut or bolt until you double click.
At least, there are three factors that will affect the process of switching torque to bolts or nuts. Among other things, the quality of the bolt or nut, how to coat hot-dip galvanizing, to give lubricant according to the type of torque lock. If you are not skilled in conducting calibration, it is a good idea to leave this matter to those who have experience or conduct training as mentioned earlier.
Once the calibration circuit is complete, there is a validation stage performed on the torque lock. Validation is a process of verification to ensure that processes, procedures, activities, systems, and equipment used during production and supervision will result in the desired results. Validation on torque lock calibration is certainly important because it will lead to product quality or yield and will be carried out according to the type.
