Utilization of On-Line Analyzer to Monitor Steam Quality in PLTP (Geothermal Power Plant)

Steam purity can be an important factor in maintaining reliability, availability and efficiency in geothermal power plants. Poor steam purity and quality and equipment damage due to corrosion and erosion.

 


Online measurement of steam purity is a technique considered essential for power generation and other industrial processes using steam. All previous technologies involve 100% condensation of the vapor sample, which is usually collected isokinetically.

 


Common contaminants found in geothermal steam used for power generation include, among other things, silica, boron, chloride, sodium, carbon dioxide, hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen and particulate matter (forming materials and corrosion products).

 


Excessive concentrations of sodium, silica, or chlorate can also speed up the corrosion process.

 


Mettler Toledo's online analyzers such as Sodium & Silica analyzers, pH meters can help control the quality of steam in geothermal plants. Through online monitoring, it is expected to maintain the purity of the steam so as to maximize the effectiveness of the turbine system.
