PCBs in Transformer Oil

Transformer Visual Test according to Permen KLHK Republik Indonesia No. 29 Tahun 2020

Visual Test is a method to obtain information on the presence of Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) with the naked eye. Visual tests are carried out on transformers and capacitors that are still in use or those that are no longer in use. Transformers and capacitors have several criteria that must be met in order to perform a PCBs level test. The first thing to check is whether the transformer is wet type or not, if not then the transformer is excluded from the PCBs level test, if it is a wet type the transformer must be checked whether it uses dielectric oil with the trade name listed in attachment 1 of the Ministerial Regulation. KLHK Republik Indonesia No.29 of 2020, if yes, then PCBs content testing must be carried out, if not then see whether the transformer was produced before 1997, if not, PCBs content testing is carried out, if yes, then check whether the transformer has a drain line (outlet, if it does not have an outlet line then it is excluded from PCBs level testing, if yes then further checks are carried out whether the transformer has ever been purified, if not, it is excluded from PCBs level testing, if the transformer has been purified then PCBs content testing is carried out.
