According to Minister of Environment and Forestry RI No. 29 of 2020 Article 1, swab test is part of a laboratory test to obtain information regarding the concentration of PCBs on the inner surface of a transformer which no longer contains dielectric oil containing PCBs.

The swab test is carried out by wiping the area on the surface of a non-porous solid material using wet gauze (low lint tissue) following a predetermined pattern. Next, the samples were sent to the PCBs Laboratory to be tested for PCBs analysis using GC-ECD.
