Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) are a group of hazardous chemical compounds that are persistent, bioaccumulative, and toxic. For decades, PCBs have been widely used in electrical equipment such as transformers and capacitors due to their chemical stability.
Along with increasing awareness of the health and environmental impacts, the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) has issued Ministerial Regulation No. 29 of 2020 as an effort to control and gradually eliminate the use of PCBs.
