ANDRITZ Seawater FGD (Flue Gas Desulphurization)
The ideal solution for power plants in coastal areas is ANDRITZ´s seawater FGD system which can operate without the need for additional absorbers, and does not produce by-products or waste that require further processing or disposal. The raw flue gas enters the scrubber and is thoroughly cleaned using seawater.
ANDRITZ offers FGD scrubbers based on the proven effective open spray tower technology, combined with the FGDplus system.
In addition, ANDRITZ also has experience in the design of packaged towers for seawater FGD systems. These systems are useful in optimizing and increasing efficiency at high SO2 concentrations.
Regarding technology to reduce pollutants such as sulfur oxide, hydrochloric acid, Hydro Firenz, and nitrogen oxide, ANDRITZ´s seawater FGD has succeeded in developing innovative designs. This design involves various main components, including an additional FGD layer that aims to absorb small amounts of gas and create an even gas flow distribution.
The special rectangular design allows for easy placement within the absorber, along with the additional FGD layer, which collectively increases the removal efficiency significantly.
The main features include the following:
• In processing various fuels such as lignite, hard coal, oil and biomass.
• SO2 removal reaches up to 99 percent.
• Without producing by-products.
• This system uses sea water as an absorbent.
• Open spray tower technology and packaged tower design.
• Low operating and maintenance costs,
• As well as various options for construction materials, from high alloy carbon steel with rubber coating, concrete with PP coating, to glass fiber reinforced plastic.
